Going Underground

Description

I've been working too long on this. I am at my wit's end. I have to submit it now or I'll never do it.

Tis Sam Manson going Gothic Lolita. *JB just can't draw a goth without lace now...* Although it's rather TAME gothic lolita clothes she's wearing. The gothic lolita fashion movement, btw, started in Japan but is finding its way here in the US. Hot Topic is beginning to catch a clue apparently. *points to a Gothic Lolita magazine at her local Hot Topic* Not saying that Hot Topic is authority in Goth fashion. Oh noes. They're a bit too mainstream now to be considered underground. But yes, Gothic lolita style is still considered to be rather underground stuff.

So yesh. Sam's going underground. Literally. Originally I thought to name this "Going Backstage" like at a concert, cuz of those posters, but ya just can't ignore her new clothes. The focus here isn't the background, its her. All she's doing is flashing the camera a smile before she heads further down to an underground concert basement.

Enjoy! THis took me waaaay too long to finish. *shakes fist at bg*

EDIT Okies, now I have time to write a more detailed description. lol! Sorry, I had to rush to work...ahem. It seems there's a misunderstanding as to why this took me so long. I didn't draw the lace myself. I found a picture of some black lace on the internet, (I think it was a fabric store) and with photoshop I made a brush of it. Then I brushed it on here and with much copying, pasting, cutting, moving, and rotating, I adjusted to accordingly to the part it was to go to. From this piece of lace I also copied, cut, pasted and moved the fishnet part to make one large square of fishnet and set that as a brush as well. That's how I got such a large piece of fishnet for her choker.

As for the shirt, I used various different brushes from Deviantart (speaking of which I gotta note these folks and thank them!) But the main ones I used are from . You'll recognize his Tribal Flower brushes. But I also used some grungy stars from his Grunge Brushes Then I just used the default photshop stars to further adorn Sam's shirt. All in all, I'm pleased with her shirt design. With the exception that when I merged the layers on here, the design became dull. It was supposed to be brighter and more silver toned. X3; Oh well, I'm going to edit this pic soon anyways to fix that.

Anyways, I'm very happy with her clothing. I kinda wish I had an outfit like that...(except I'd definately wear the skirt slighly longer...). XD;

As for the background...I hate it! That's what took me so darn long! And even when I was done with it, I still didn't want to submit it. I'm going to find a way to get rid of those posters. They're a hazard here on DA. >_< Ya can never be sure what'll be accepted and what won't. >_<

Let's see...what else? Uh yeah, some of you might've noticed I did her eyes differently from last time. I wanted them to be more lavender than purple, since that's how she's drawn on the cartoon. (She has no pupils!) I kept redoing her eyes, cuz they looked sloppy to me, but in the end, I gave up and this is how they ended up. Kinda...exotic. I sorta like it, but I don't know if I wanna keep doing it. I can't remember all the steps I took to make them look this way...:lmao: Oh well, I'll figure something out.
Hm...her hair. I don't like it. I liked her hair in the last pic, but for some reason I could NOT get it to look that way here. The layers and colors on photoshop refused to cooperate with me. Frustrating, indeed. Oh well, in a way that kinda works, since the lack of lavender in her hair, leaves the lavender in her eyes to stand out more. :shrug:

Oy...this still took too long to finish/submit.

I love the details of the lace drawn and the colors.
